‘Drake Curse’ Trends Again After Singer Loses $1.5m World Cup Wager
Canadian rapper and singer Drake has lost another high-profile sports bet after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The Grammy-winning artiste had staked $1.5 million on Argentina to lift the trophy, with the wager offering a potential payout of $5.1 million through betting platform Stake.
However, Ferran Torres’ extra-time winner handed Spain the World Cup title, leaving Drake’s latest prediction unsuccessful.
The loss has once again fuelled discussions around the so-called “Drake Curse,” a long-running internet theory that claims teams and athletes publicly backed by the Canadian star often end up losing.
This is not the first time Drake has suffered a costly betting setback. Earlier this year, he lost another major wager after backing former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor, who was defeated by Max Holloway.
