Alake: Strategic Communication Key to Mining Growth
Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, has underscored the importance of strategic communication in advancing transparency, strengthening governance, and sustaining reforms across Nigeria’s mining industry.
Speaking in Abuja after being inducted as a Fellow of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Alake described effective communication as a powerful tool for building public trust, promoting accountability, and fostering stronger collaboration between government, investors, host communities, and other critical stakeholders.
The minister said the recognition reflects the growing role of purposeful communication in delivering impactful public policies and reaffirmed his commitment to keeping Nigerians informed as the Federal Government pushes ahead with reforms to unlock the full potential of the solid minerals sector.
“This honour reaffirms the value of strategic communication in public service and strengthens our resolve to maintain transparent engagement with citizens, investors and host communities,” Alake said.
He noted that clear and consistent communication has become an integral part of the ministry’s reform agenda, helping to build confidence in policies aimed at formalising mining operations, curbing illegal activities, encouraging mineral beneficiation, and attracting responsible investment into the sector.
ARCON Director-General, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, commended Alake for successfully blending policy reforms with effective public engagement, describing his leadership as instrumental in reshaping perceptions of Nigeria’s mining industry.
Fadolapo said the minister’s communication strategy has improved investor confidence, increased public awareness of government initiatives, and strengthened support for reforms designed to make the sector more transparent, competitive, and economically viable.
Since assuming office, Alake has spearheaded a series of initiatives to reposition the solid minerals industry as a key pillar of Nigeria’s economic diversification strategy. He has consistently maintained that strong governance, stakeholder engagement, and transparent communication remain indispensable to achieving long-term, sustainable growth in the sector.
