JUST IN: Three-Storey Building Collapses in Amuwo-Odofin, Rescue Operations Underway
Panic gripped residents of the Alakija axis in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State on Thursday morning following the sudden collapse of a three-storey building.
According to eyewitnesses, the structure gave way unexpectedly at approximately 11:40 a.m., sending shockwaves through the neighborhood. The thunderous collapse disrupted daily activities and triggered a chaotic scene as terrified residents and passers-by fled nearby buildings for safety, while others rushed toward the site fearing casualties.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded swiftly to the crisis. Confirming the incident, LASEMA Permanent Secretary Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu stated that emergency responders were immediately deployed to the scene.
”The rescue mission has begun, and operations are currently ongoing,” Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed.
As of the time of filing this report, emergency teams are actively working at the site to clear the debris, ascertain the cause of the structural failure, and determine if anyone is trapped beneath the rubble.
