Alexx Ekubo Laid to Rest Amid Tears, Tributes

Late Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, amid an outpouring of grief from family, friends, colleagues and admirers.

Ekubo reportedly passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 after a battle with kidney cancer.

Funeral activities commenced on Wednesday in Ujari Village, Arochukwu, with a wake-keep attended by loved ones and members of the community.

The funeral service was held on Thursday at Mary Slessor School in Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, before his remains were interred at his family compound.

Several Nollywood stars, friends and associates paid glowing tributes to the late actor, remembering him for his talent, generosity and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

Ekubo was widely celebrated for his roles in numerous Nollywood productions and was also known for his philanthropic efforts during his lifetime.

His passing has continued to draw condolences from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry, many of whom described his death as a painful loss to Nollywood.Headline Options
