New Apapa LG Secretary Dies Days After Appointment

The Apapa Local Government has announced the passing of it’s newly appointed Secretary, Gilbatar Njowusi.
The council’s administrative, in a statement, disclosed the Njowusi died following a brief illness, expressing that the death as a huge shock to the council’s administrative as well as the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the community.
Njowusi reportedly passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, barely days after his appointment, an incident which has led to a noticeable slowdown in political activities within the local government area.
The council has declared a seven-day shut down of activities in honour of Njowusi, as relayed in the circular which reads in extract,“In view of the recent demise of Hon. Gibraltar Njowusi, Secretary to the Local Government, who was a close ally of our principal, Dr. Mike Oladunjoye Egbayelo, we hereby announce the suspension of publicity for our campaign for seven days, commencing from April 26, 2026, in honour of the departed, who was a strong believer in a better and more prosperous Apapa.”
“May the Lord accept his soul and grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
It added that further information on the development would be announced in due course.
