Ruger Reveals How He Missed Chance to Feature in Funke Akindele’s Film
Nigerian Afrobeats star Ruger has opened up about what he describes as one of his biggest missed opportunities, a chance to feature in a film by Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele.
Speaking during an interview with VJ Adams, the singer revealed that he only discovered much later that Akindele had reached out to him via direct message for a movie role.
According to Ruger, he had initially wanted to message the actress to appreciate her support after noticing she often vibed to his songs. However, upon checking, he realised she had already contacted him earlier — a message he missed at the time.
“I once missed a DM from Funke Akindele for a movie role. I didn’t even see it on time. That one still pains me,” he said.
The singer admitted that the discovery left him disappointed, noting that the regret still lingers.
Despite the missed opportunity, Ruger said he remains open to acting, although he acknowledged that the process might be challenging for him.
“I am interested in acting and wouldn’t mind going into the movie industry… I think acting would be difficult for me because I don’t like shooting. But I would get into character still if the role is interesting,” he added.
