Why I Keep My Husband Off Social Media – Kiekie

Nigerian actress and content creator Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kiekie, is calling on fellow creatives to be more intentional about protecting their private lives in the age of social media.
Speaking at The Creative Blueprint 2.0, Kiekie opened up about how she has consciously drawn a clear line between her personal identity and her public brand.
According to her, there is a deliberate separation between who she is as Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori and the energetic comic personality many people know as Kiekie.
“I have created a very thick line between what is personal to me… and what belongs to my brand,” she said, explaining that her work revolves around being an event and TV host, actor, and content creator, with a strong focus on comedy.
She also addressed her decision to keep her husband, Tunji Ilori, away from her content, joking that he is “not funny.”
However, she takes a slightly different approach with her daughter, Nola Ilori, whom she occasionally features online. Even at that, she maintains boundaries, revealing that she only creates content with her during school breaks.
Beyond her personal choices, Kiekie used the moment to caution content creators against oversharing, noting that the pressure to stay viral can lead people to cross important lines.
“We overmilk viral moments until it becomes annoying. And that is where oversharing comes in,” she said.
Her message was clear: while content creation thrives on visibility, knowing when to hold back is just as important as knowing when to show up.
