Afrobeats star Davido (David Adeleke) has withdrawn from the ongoing custody case involving his daughter, Imade, stating that he had only sought joint custody and not sole guardianship as widely speculated.

The singer made the announcement in a post shared on X late Friday, stressing that the situation was not a victory or defeat for either party.

“I never asked for full custody … I asked for joint custody. Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade … so I don’t know why some pple r celebrating. There’s nothing to celebrate,” he wrote.

Davido explained that he decided to discontinue the case following what he described as an unacceptable development during courtroom proceedings. According to him, references were made to his late son, an action he said was deeply upsetting.

“I’ve decided to drop the case because … until she brought out her last card! MY DECEASED SON! THAT’S A NO NO! Lowest blow!” he stated.

He maintained that his legal action was motivated by love and responsibility toward his daughter, expressing confidence that his efforts would be appreciated in the future.

“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her … let’s move on. One love!” he added.

The artiste also criticised the opposing legal team on his Instagram story, alleging unprofessional conduct during proceedings at the Lagos State High Court.

Earlier, Lagos-based lawyer Maruf Muhammed had shared posts highlighting tense moments in court.

“Davido in High Court, Yaba now! Come and see drama in court. The lawyer made 001 lose his patience during cross-examination o! Be you never so high, the law is above you,” Muhammed wrote.

The matter before the court was later confirmed to relate to the custody of Imade.

Imade was recently seen spending time with her father following her success at a talent competition, a development that drew positive reactions from fans.

The custody dispute between Davido and his daughter’s mother continues to attract public attention, with many supporters advocating peaceful co-parenting in the interest of the child.
