The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed the presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising the proposed ₦5.41 trillion allocation to the security sector as a clear demonstration of purposeful governance.

In a statement issued on Friday, the party described the budget as one anchored on security, stability and national renewal, noting that the administration’s prioritisation of security reflects a realistic understanding of Nigeria’s current challenges and the urgency of addressing them.

According to the Lagos APC, the security-focused allocation underscores the government’s recognition of security as the foundation for economic growth, social stability and investor confidence.

“The 2026 Budget reflects intentional governance. It speaks directly to the lived realities of Nigerians by placing security at the centre of national development,” the party said.

The party explained that the objective of the budget is to consolidate existing security gains, protect lives and property, and create a stable environment for sustainable economic recovery. It noted that the administration’s approach to security spending is strategic rather than reactionary.

The APC listed key areas expected to benefit from the allocation, including capacity enhancement for the Armed Forces and other security agencies, improved intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration, modernisation of equipment and logistics, as well as improved welfare and motivation for security personnel.

According to the party, the objectives of the 2026 Budget include weakening criminal and terrorist networks, restoring investor confidence, deepening ongoing economic reforms, and reinforcing social stability across the country.

The Lagos APC added that the security allocation aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that peace, economic development and national progress are interconnected.

The party also called on Nigerians and the National Assembly to support the budget in the national interest, urging stakeholders to look beyond partisan considerations.

“This is not a budget of rhetoric, but one of resolve. It reflects a leadership that appreciates the weight of history and the urgency of the present moment,” the statement said.

Commending President Tinubu’s foresight and clarity of purpose, the Lagos APC said the country is gradually transitioning from emergency responses to structured and forward-looking solutions.

The statement was signed by Hon. Seye Oladejo, Spokesman of the Lagos APC, and dated December 20, 2025.
