Lagos To Close Marina Road, Six Others Ahead Motor Race Competition

The Lagos State Government has informed of a temporary closure of the Marina Road to enable seamless hosting of the upcoming Autofest race.
The government held that the closure will cut across a seven-hour traffic diversion across Lagos Island, releasing a detailed driving advisory to guide motorists on alternative routes and diversion plans.
In a circular issued yesterday by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Bolanle Ogunlola, the measure will take effect on Sunday, December 21, from 12noon to 7pm, will affect Marina Road (UBA), Kakawa Street, Balabina Street, Broad Street, Issah Williams Street, Broad Street, and back to Inner Marina.
*To this end, all junctions and intersections from Marina Road (UBA) to Broad Street (Inner Marina) will be cordoned off with road barriers to restrict access to the main race corridor,” the statement reads in part.
“Motorists are urged to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic management officers, as the partial road closures are essential to ensuring a safe and successful race,’ it continued.
Ogunlola appealed to residents and motorists to cooperate with traffic officers and follow the designated alternative routes to reduce delays and inconvenience during the race, as well as assuring them of presence of officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, the Nigerian Police Force, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps, LSNC, to restrict access during the event and ensure smooth vehicular movement throughout the race.
