Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has arrived in Morocco, heightening anticipation ahead of the opening ceremony of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Rema’s arrival on Tuesday officially signalled the start of festivities surrounding Africa’s biggest football tournament, which kicks off this weekend. The award-winning global star’s presence adds significant entertainment appeal to the competition’s curtain-raiser.
AFCON 2025 will be hosted across several Moroccan cities, with the continent’s top national teams battling for continental glory. Beyond football, organisers have lined up a robust programme of cultural and entertainment activities aimed at enhancing the overall fan experience.
While excitement builds off the pitch, Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered a minor setback on Tuesday, losing 2–1 to Egypt in an international friendly encounter.
The match served as a valuable assessment opportunity for the technical crew, offering insight into player combinations and tactical adjustments ahead of competitive fixtures.
Nigeria’s preparations continue in Egypt, with 26 players currently in camp, as the team awaits the arrival of Moses Simon and Victor Osimhen to complete the squad.
