The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, together with members of the Peace and Security Committee, has issued a stern warning to youths against the use of “bangers” and other fireworks during the Christmas celebrations. The use of these dangerous items, which often causes panic, injuries, and fear among residents, will no longer be tolerated within the local government area.
The committee stated that anyone caught using bangers or similar fireworks will face arrest and prosecution under the law. Sellers and distributors of these hazardous materials are also warned that they will face strict sanctions, given the serious threats these activities pose to public safety and communal peace.
In addition, parents, guardians, and community leaders were urged to monitor and advise their wards to prevent acts that could disrupt the festive season. Residents are encouraged to celebrate responsibly and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate security agencies.
Chairman Johnson reaffirmed the commitment of the Alimosho Local Government administration to ensuring a peaceful, safe, and incident-free Christmas and New Year celebration for all residents.
