The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed Nigeria’s leadership role in West Africa, highlighting the nation’s influence at a critical moment for the sub-region. Under the strategic guidance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria continues to shape political stability, strengthen collective security, and deepen diplomatic engagement across ECOWAS member states.

With several West African nations facing political transitions, military interventions, economic uncertainty, and rising extremist threats, Nigeria has remained a stabilizing force. President Tinubu, in his dual capacity as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and chair of ECOWAS, has consistently championed democratic consolidation, peaceful transitions of power, and multilateral diplomacy, reinforcing the country’s reputation as a cornerstone of regional stability.

The Lagos APC commended the President for his firm stance against unconstitutional power grabs, noting his diplomatic interventions across the sub-region have helped de-escalate tensions, restore dialogue, and support legitimate governance. The party emphasized that his leadership has set a precedent for principled diplomacy, balancing firmness with negotiation to uphold West Africa’s collective democratic project.

Nigeria has also emerged as a key driver of regional security, with the country leading intelligence-sharing initiatives, counterterrorism collaborations, and joint military exercises to confront terrorism, banditry, piracy, and other transnational threats. The APC praised President Tinubu for expanding Nigeria’s security approach beyond national borders, revitalizing ECOWAS standby forces, and engaging global partners to address threats that no single country can tackle alone.

The party further highlighted Nigeria’s diplomatic posture under President Tinubu as one rooted in strategic engagement, responsible leadership, and a deep commitment to peace. From mediating political crises to promoting regional economic integration and advocating for humanitarian initiatives, Nigeria has regained its voice as a leading actor in West Africa.

According to the Lagos APC, the President has successfully repositioned Nigerian diplomacy as a tool for development, leveraging regional partnerships, trade corridors, energy diplomacy, and cooperation to strengthen West Africa’s collective influence on the global stage.

The party expressed pride that Nigeria is once again setting the standard for democratic leadership, economic vision, and responsible statecraft in the sub-region. While other nations focus inward, Nigeria continues to strengthen regional ties, foster peace, and shape continental outcomes. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the country is positioned to protect its citizens, guide its neighbors, and lead Africa toward a secure, prosperous, and integrated future.

The Lagos APC called on Nigerians to remain confident in the nation’s regional and global trajectory, stating that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria is not merely participating in Africa’s story—it is shaping its most critical chapters.
