Lagos APC Spokesman, Seye Oladejo Defends Remi Tinubu’s Advice, Faults Adeleke’s Public Performances

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, following criticisms that trailed her recent remarks directed at Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
The First Lady had advised Governor Adeleke to focus more on governance rather than frequent public performances, a comment she delivered during a cultural gathering hosted by the Ooni of Ife.
Reacting, the Lagos APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the First Lady’s remarks were “a motherly, patriotic reminder delivered in good faith,” insisting that critics were twisting her words for political gain.
According to Oladejo, “There was nothing malicious or condescending in what the First Lady said. Her counsel was a sincere call for Governor Adeleke to prioritise the serious responsibilities of governance over theatrics. Leadership is not sustained by applause but by performance.”
He added that governance requires discipline, emotional intelligence, and time management, stressing that every hour spent on “avoidable entertainment” is time stolen from public service.
Oladejo argued that Adeleke’s frequent public displays often overshadow the substance expected from his office. “It has sadly become an aberration that the only takeaway from the governor’s appearances is entertainment. The people of Osun deserve more,” he said.
The spokesperson noted that Osun’s educational, security, economic, and infrastructural challenges demand focused leadership, especially ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
As investors and development partners watch public officials closely, Oladejo said leadership must project seriousness. “Nigeria needs builders, not performers. The electorate voted for service, not choreography,” he added.
He urged Adeleke to reflect on the First Lady’s counsel and realign his public conduct with the expectations of his office.
