Nigeria women’s football national team roared like wounded lions to come from two goals down and defeat host nation, Morocco 3-2 in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations (WAFCON).

Three second half goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi and Jennifer Echegini canceled our first half strikes from Moroccan duo of Chebbak and Mssoudy.

A defensive blunder from Nigeria gave Chebbak an opportunity to give the Atlas Lionesses the lead in the 17th minute.

12 minutes later, Mssoudy doubled Morocco lead with a left footed strike.

Two goals down in the first half left the Falcons in an turbulent situation.

Okoronkwo converted a 64th minute penalty to reignite a comeback for Nigeria.

A magical moment from creative winger Okoronkwo setup Ijamilusi to drive home the equalizer in the 71st minute.

The emphatic comeback from Nigeria gave the players room to dominate the game and pushed for the winning goal.

The Falcons have shown how dangerous they are in set piece situations in the Wafcon and this came to play as the winning goal came out from a set piece for Echegini to bury home a swift finish two minutes before the end of regulation time.
