The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended Nollywood actress Shirley Igwe over allegations of assaulting a crew member on a film set.

According to reports, Igwe allegedly slapped a member of the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) during a production, leading to prompt disciplinary action by the AGN.

In a statement addressed to its state chapter chairmen and the national chairman, the Guild announced that Igwe has been placed on indefinite suspension while further investigations are carried out.

The AGN stated that the suspension was due to “violence, and indiscipline actions capable of discrediting the acting profession.”

The statement further directed: “Members are hereby directed to refrain from participating in any film production involving her.”
