19-Year-Old Gains Admission After Commiting Suicide Over UTME Low Score In Ikorodu

A 19-year-old girl female tertiary institution admission seeker, Opesusi Timileyin, has tragically commited suicide over a low score in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
Timileyin, who lived with her elder sibling in Odoguyan area in Ikorodu, Lagos, was said to have taken a rodent poison yesterday following her amassed 190 score.
A family member of the deceased stated that the teenager, who applied for the exam last year fielding Micro Biology as preferred course, was later offered a provisional admission just few hours after her demise. The respondent mentioned that all attempts to keep her alive proved futile after she was pronounced dead at the Kolak Hospital in the community.
A close ally to the teenager said, “We noticed strange behaviour in Timileyin. She complained of stomach pain and we noticed she was in gruesome pain. We used palm oil to douce the pain but it wasn’t forthcoming.
“It was on our way to the hospital that she confessed to have taken poison. She said her score last edition was more than she got this year.
“A letter was send to her mail that she has been offers admission just some minutes after she died.
“She was a gentle and humble person.”
The parents of the deceased have arrived at Ikorodu to pick her remains to Abeokuta for burial.
