The Lagos State Government has held a training exercise for new recruits into law enforcement agencies to further ensure maintenance of law and order in the area.
During the program which centred on emotional intelligence, professionalism, the use of force and also enhancement in capacity to maintain tranquility in the state, the state’s Deputy Governor, Kadiri Hamzat, stated that the exercise was aimed at improving the trainees in professionalism, dedication and proactivenes in carrying out their duties.
Hamzat, who was represented by the Commissioner for Transportation in the state, Oluwasegun Osiyemi, noted that the initiative will provide an avenue for improved welfare and professional development of the law enforcement officers.
The Deputy Governor lauded the Law Enforcement Training Institute, LETI, for conducting the exercise. He added: “LETI’s training programs have greatly improved grassroots governance, with past participants earning community trust through their professionalism.
“Following the training, the graduands are expected to uphold and surpass these standards as there is need to ensure law and order in Lagos.
“There is also need for public cooperation. This will yield lots of successes from the efforts of our law enforcement agencies.
“With community support, the agencies will be able to carry out their duties efficiently for the benefit of our state”.
The state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN, praised LETI for its professionalism, commitment, and adherence to its mandate.
Pedro disclosed that the government is focused on equipping the officers with necessary skills and proper training to ensure eligibility of personels into the agencies.
The Attorney also mentioned they the new LETI law signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is in line with his administration’s commitment to ensure law and order.
He urged the graduands to prioritize integrity and professionalism.
