Following the recent conflict that erupted between two factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the Oshodi and Orile axis of the local government, Executive Chairman Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has called for peace and reconciliation among the groups.
Addressing a meeting of the factions at his office on Monday, Chairman Oloyede expressed his commitment to finding a mutually agreeable solution to the conflict and pledged his full support in the resolution process.
Chairman Oloyede stressed the importance of maintaining the previously established peace between the two groups, stating that he will work tirelessly to ensure that all parties involved in the reconciliation process are given fair consideration.
He noted that he had commenced reconciliation process by meeting with and listened to the other side, and he feels it will be fair to also engage the second faction and listen to their side of the story.
Demonstrating his commitment to resolving the issue, Chairman Oloyede directed Alhaji Nurudeen Adedunmoye, a notable member of the NURTW in the local government, to revert to the established status quo and maintain cordial relationships with all parties involved.
Chairman Oloyede emphasized that this decision would promote harmony, unity, and fraternity among the warring groups, stating, “Alhaji Nurudeen Adedunmoye must revert to the previously established status quo and continue to engage with all stakeholders in the manner that has been established.
He reiterated that he stands for peace and he would not tolerate any acts capable of leading to breakdown of law and order within the council area.
He said he would give him time to carry out his directives before calling both parties to a round table meeting.
Responding to the chairman, the duo of Alh. Adedunmoye and Alh. Ganiu Oyedepo (Zaria) promised to go home and make the necessary adjustments that would reflect the wishes of the chairman and promote peace within the local government area.
