Man Faces Trial Over Child Abduction, Rape

A suspect, Eric Chisom, is on trial for allegely abducting a 22-year-old lady in Bariga Lagos.

The police, arraigning Chisom at the Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja held that he also raped the victim.

The prosecutor, John Iberedem, said that the defendant, 38, conspired to commit a felony to wit: abduction.

Iberedem said that the suspect held the abductee at his residence, Olaoluwa Street, Ladilak Bariga.t

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 268 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

Magistate Ejiro Kubeinje ordered that the accused must present a surety for his bail in the sum of N100,000 in like sum.

In addition, the surety must be gainfully employed and must provide proof of tax payment.

She adjourned the case until July 24.
