Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, Egnr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, conducts an inspection visit to two primary schools in the region, Community Primary School, Abijo, and Roman Catholic Mission Primary School, Bogije.
He was accompanied by key officials, include the Supervisor of Education, Hon. Temitope Sofwan Ogungbo, Supervisor for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Mutiu Saheed, and Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Alonge Fatai.
Olowa took time to assess the conditions of the school buildings and their surroundings.
During the visit, several areas were identified for urgent attention. The perimeter fences of both schools were deemed inadequate, posing security risks to the students and staff, also the sources of water supply were found to be insufficient, highlighting the need for immediate improvement to ensure clean and reliable water access.
The inspection revealed that the entire buildings of both schools require comprehensive renovations to create a conducive learning environment.
Olowa emphasized the importance of providing quality education and a safe learning environment for the children of Ibeju Lekki.
He stated that, “Education is the foundation of our future, and it is our responsibility to ensure that our children learn in an environment that is safe, secure, and conducive to their growth and development.
“We are committed to address these issues promptly.”
He interact with the school staff and some of the pupils to understand their daily challenges and needs.
Teachers expresses concerns about the lack of basic amenities and teaching aids, which hamper effective teaching and learning.
In response to the inspection, the council has pledged to begin renovation works immediately.
The community is optimistic that these improvements will significantly enhance the quality of education and overall school experience for the students.
Parents and community members expresses their appreciation for the council’s proactive measures.
A local parent, Mrs. Adenike Ajayi, said, “We are grateful to Olowa and his team for taking these steps. Our children deserve the best, and this initiative gives us hope for a brighter future.”
