LWC TRAINS STAFF ON PUBLIC PROCUREMENT PLANNING PROCESS
The Lagos Water Corporation Procurement Planning department organized a one-day training for the Management Staff of the Corporation.
The training occurred today, Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, at the Board Room of the Corporation in its Headquarters at Ijora, Lagos.
Speaking at the Training was the Director-General of the Public Procurement Agency, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onofowote, who advised the staff of LWC to ensure strict compliance with the Procurement Planning process in all they do in order to move the Corporation forward to the level it deserves to be.
Mr. Onofowote said, “LWC must work. Is it working? If yes, what are we doing that makes it work? If not, what are we supposed to do to make it work?”
He further said, “So, let’s ensure this Organisation works by ensuring we do what we are supposed to do to carry out the vision and mission of this Organisation,” he concluded.
The Director-General also admonished the Staff to work as a team so as to make things happen. “We need to work together to know where we are going and where we are coming from.”
In addition, Mr. Onofowote emphasized on Planning procedures and process that it is very important to always plan before carrying out any project and ensure it goes through the Procurement Planning Committee. He said, “When you plan, you can make things happen.” “Planning makes us know what action is to be taken.”
The second speaker at the Training was Dr. Idowu Emiabata, who took the staff through the Payment process, Auditor checklist, and Account checklist process which leads to the completion of the payment process.
He also enjoined the staff to always follow due process in carrying out their projects.
The Managing Director of Lagos Water Corporation, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani, in his reaction, thanked the Director-General of Procurement Planning Agency and his Team for the enlightenment given on the Procurement Planning process. He said, “We have indeed learned and have more insights into the Procurement Planning process.”
He therefore promised the DG that he will ensure that henceforth, the Procurement process will be strictly adhered to in Lagos State Water Corporation.
Similarly, the Executive Director of Operations at Lagos Water Corporation, Engr. Mrs. Omolanke Taiwo, thanked the Managing Director, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani, for deeming it fit to approve the training for the betterment of the Staff and the Corporation at large.

She urged the LWC staff to take advantage of the training and brace up in their Procurement Planning process because it will no longer be business as usual. She said, “Where there is no planning, there may not be approval.”
The Executive Director furthermore appealed to the staff to cooperate with her and the MD in order to change the narrative of LWC from its present status.
Also, the Director of the Procurement Planning department, Mrs. Omotunde Oyedeji, gave kudos to the DG PPA, Mr. Idowu Onofowote, and his Team for their efforts and assured them that she will ensure that the Procurement process in LWC turns a new leaf. She also thanked the Managing Director, Executive Director of Operations, and the entire Management Staff for their cooperation.
