The maiden edition of Obasa youth tournament was unveiled yesterday with soccer lovers across local governments being present at Okusanya Primary School playing ground in Agege.
The event which is targeted towards talent hunts and discovery was officially declared opened by the Chairmen of Agege and Orile Agege Local Government and LCDA respectively in person of Mr. Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi and Mr. Johnson Sunday Babatunde.
The Chairman organizing Committee and CEO of Kings Sports, Mr. Ganiyu Abiodun has emphasized the importance of motivating and profitably engaging young people to prevent the spread of crime and vices in society by providing them with a platform to display their abilities and enable them to achieve their goals through sports.
In addition to helping to engage young people and provide them with the chance to flourish by positively utilizing their innate skills and talents, the football event is expected to offer opportunities for grassroots sports development and talent search and discovery.
He expressed gratitude to all those who helped make the tournament’s inaugural edition a success and pledged to make it an annual occasion to help divert more young people from drugs and crime by means of constructive involvement.
Present at the opening Ceremony were : Dr Afolabi Abiodun, Mr. Abd’lkareem Jubril, Mr. Ganiyu Egunjobi, Mr. Johnson Babatunde, Mr. Akin Oshungboye, Mr. Gbenga Abiola, Mrs. Kafilat Akanni Pedro, Mr. Tunde Azeez, Mr. Salau Olaniyi, Mr. Rashid Adaranijo, Mr. James Agboola, Mr. Alliu Najeem Olohuntoyin, Mr. Wale Fayemi, Mr. Fatai Ajibola, Mr. Isola Ogunsola, Mrs C.M. Ogunyomi, Prince Sunday Ladipo , Alhaja Modinat Tijani, Councillors from Agege and Orile Agege, Supervisors from Agege and Orile Agege, LG and ward Excos, Party members among others.
