The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, has been announced a recipient of the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The announcement was made by the National Productivity Centre, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment via publications in national dailies on Tuesday, 30th May 2023.
The National Productivity Order of Merit Award is an award of Dignity instituted by the Federal Government to recognize hard work and excellence among deserving Nigerians.
A professor of Physiology, Prof. Olatunji-Bello, assumed office as LASU’s 9th Substantive and second female Vice Chancellor, on Monday, 20th September 2021 with a clear vision to lead the University to become the best in West Africa.
She has since her assumption galvanized the University to national and international reckoning, with several accolades – one of which is LASU’s rating as the Best University in West Africa in the U.I Greenmetirics Global Ranking – serving as a testament to her transformational leadership. The award is also a recognition of the positive impact she has made as a leader and as a catalyst for productivity and development in the country.
Prof. Olatunji-Bello, mni, an alumna of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS),
is also a recipient of a plethora of individual honours, the latest being her conferment with the Award of Fellow of the National Labour Institute (FNIL) by the Michael Imodu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) earlier in May 2023.
