The Lagos State Government is set to commence a 28-day public display of the Draft Final Report on the Lagos Island Model City Plan, starting from Wednesday, 17th May, to Friday, 23rd June 2023.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Oluwole Sotire.
The display, which is in line with the standard Masterplan preparation procedure, will take place at four different locations to allow members of the public to make observations and comments before finalising the Planning Document.
The venues are Lagos Island Local Government Annex, Adeniji Adele Road; Lagos Island Local Government, 64, Freeman Street (Zappas Building); Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area; and the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
The public display, which is coming on the heels of a similar display of the Draft Final Report on Kosofe Model City Plan from 9th May to 15th June 2023, is in tandem with the State’s culture of Citizen’s Participation in the preparation of Operative Development Plans and will precede final stakeholders meeting to allow for further inputs on 11th July 2023.
The Lagos Island Model City Plan, upon its completion, will cover 20 years between 2021-2041 and serve to harness the special characteristics and environmental sustainability of the Plan area to engender sustainable future growth and socio-economic development of the State.
