Osinaike tasks pupils on reading culture, present 100,000 cheque to winner of quiz competition

Mr Olusegun Osinaike, Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Education District 4, has urged pupils to be upright and steadfast in pursuant of their educational career.

Osinaike gave the appeal while addressing newsmen at the Faces of Heroes: Schools’ Challenge Competition, in Lagos on Wednesday.

He said that education is the bedrock of success, any students that want to be successful in life should take his education seriously.

He added that some heroes are celebrated today around the world not because of anything but because of their contributions towards nation’s buildings.

“If you want to be part of a career and successful person in life, you must learn and study hard.

“Faces of heroes and heroines are everywhere across the society not because they are extraordinary human being but because of the way they project and plan their future, makes them a successful being.

“To be successful in life, you have to plan your career positively and work towards your dreams in life, ” he said.

Osinaike urges governmental and non governmental organisations to support the education career of pupils across the society.

He said that the government cannot do it alone, It requires public, private partnership.

The permanent secretary commends Darlin Sofola and Andrew Chariokwu Foundation, a nongovernmental organisation for their collaboration and support with Education District 4 in organising a quiz competition for the students of the District recently.

He added that the winners of the competition at both Junior and Senior School category were given a cash price of N100,000 each.

The tutor general said that these kind of support in education sector would accelerate the passion of students in pursuant of their education and learning.

“Our wards need to be encourage in education financially in order to motivate them in their chosen career, ” he said.

Osinaike extol Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his administration efforts geared towards the development of education sector in the state.

He added that the sector has experienced a tremendous development/improvement during this present administration.

“We appreciate the governor for his efforts and strength, as ‘Oliver twist’ we crave for more development in education sector, ” he said.

Similarly, Mrs Uduak Adesuwa, Representative of Andrew Chariokwu Foundation, a subsidiary partner of the event said that the competition would encourage young people to keep abreast with current affairs and happening around them.

She said that her nongovernmental organisation supported the program with school bags, higher education and free medical check up.

One of the beneficiaries at the Senior category, Ndukamma Anthony, applauded Education District 4 for organising such a laudable initiative.

Anthony, the first position and winner at the senior category said that the reward for hard work is more work.

 

“I will not relent in my academic excellence. I will make my parent and the nation proud someday, ” he said.
