Sheroes Cup: How Delta Queens emerged champions

Delta Queens has emerged as the Champions of the 2022 Sheroes Cup after triumph over Edo Queens on penalties.
Both sides had won six games and drawn a game ahead of the final match but couldn’t be separated after 90 minutes.
Fehintola Mabokanje, Arit Usang, Mercy Omokwo, Chinaza Agoh, and Taiwo Afolabi scored their spot kicks for Delta Queens with Vera Samuel playing her penalty over the bar.
Olise Chioma, Emem Essien, Odueke Omotoke, and Abideen Suliat scored Edo Queen’s penalties during the short out while the duo of Fajobi Yetunde and Sunday Blessing missed for the Benin-based club as Anderline Ngbechi saved both spot kicks.
Delta Queens won 5-4 on penalties.
The victory was the first time that Delta Queens will win the Sheroes Cup which was formerly known as the Flying Officers Cup.
Edo Queens failed to win the final of the tournament after consecutive defeats in the final.
The team lost to FC Robo Queens 1-0 in the final of the 2021 edition.
Earlier on, two goals within two minutes from Ayatsea Hembafan and Opara Chimembere lifted Nasarawa Amazons to a 2-0 win against Confluence Queens in the third-place match.
The defeat was also a consecutive loss for Confluence Queens after a similar outcome on penalties to Osun Babes in 2021.
Delta Queens duo of Chinaza Agoh and Anderline Ngbechi smiled home with the top goalscorer and most valuable player award.
Edo Queen’s coach, Moses Aduku won the coach of the tournament award as his player, Abideen Suliat clinched the most valuable player award.
