LG officials urged to cultivate right leadership skills

Officials under the Unified Local Government Service have been urged by Lagos State Government to cultivate right leadership skills that would help in carrying out their duties diligently.

Officials within the grade 15 – 17 were urged yesterday at a month-lomg training session for senior local government members of staff.

The training, themed, ‘Strategic Leadership’ was under the supervision of the state’s Local Government Establishments, Training and Pension Office.

Educating officials, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Establishments, Training and Pension Office, Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa explained that all senior officers are assumed to be strategic managers in their assigned local governments which requires intellectual skills to govern.

She explained that it is expected of all leaders to instill what they have been taught and put them all into practice for a satisfactory result to be observed in each local government.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Mr Kamal Bayeru, revealed that the training would as well extend to the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos.

He said the training for the directors is a first step as they will still do the same for other members of staff.

He concluded that with the help of the training, Lagos state grassroot would achieve more for better development.
