Isolo councillors get certificate of return, to be sworn in Friday

The newly-elected councillors in Isolo LCDA have been presented with Certificates of Return and are set to be sworn in on Friday.

The councillors, all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside 370 counterparts across the state were presented with Certificates of Return, yesterday, by the Lagos state independent electoral commission (LASIEC) having been certified winners of the just concluded local government elections held last weekend in their respective wards.

The seven councillors in Isolo, Hon. Abisodun Odusina-Adeoye, Hon. Kanayo Osondu, Hon. Olanrewaju Kayode, Hon. Idris Babatunde Amusa, Hon. Yusuf Agbabiaka, Hon. Chidiebere Iheasirim and Hon. Akeem Adeyemi will be representing Ishagatedo/Ire-Akari Ward, Okota Ward, Alagbeji Ward, Akinbaiye Ward, Apena Ward, Ajao Estate and Ilasamaja Ward, respectively, for the next four years.

As reported by ECHONEWS, Odusina-Adeoye polled 1,215 votes to defeat her sole opponent Hon. Ayobami Davies of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 371 votes to emerge winner in Ishagatedo/Ire-Akari Ward while in Alagbeji Ward Hon. Olanrewaju Kayode scored 944 votes against 222 votes garnered by Opeyemi Osanyintola of PDP to be declared the winner of the election.

Hon. Idris Amusa scored 3,198 – the highest of any councillor in the council, to defeat his fellow indigene Adeoye Rilwan Agbabiaka of PDP who managed to score 546 votes in Akinbaiye Ward.

Meanwhile, Hon. Kanayo Oyedinma Osondu, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi and Hon. Chidiebere Iheasirim scored 594, 999 and 424 votes in Okota, Ilasamaja and Ajao Estate, respectively to defeat their opponents majorly from PDP.

With 965 votes, Hon Yusuf Agbabiaka emerged winner in Apena Ward against Hon Isiaq Shonubi of PDP who scored 164 to emerge as the first person with a physical disability to win a councillorship post in Isolo and the state.

As learnt, the swearing-in ceremony will be done on Friday by the council boss Hon. Adebayo Olasoju and will be followed by the election of principal officers of the house.

According to speculations either of Hon. Abisodun Odusina-Adeoye (Ishagatedo/Ire-Akari) or Hon. Akeem Adeyemi (Ilasamaja) will be the new Leader of the Council to steer the leadership of the 5th Assembly.
