One of the chairmanship aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Balogun Mojeeb Adam, has given the reason why he conceded defeat at the party’s primary and was quick to humbly extend hands of sportsmanship to the winner, Hon. Bayo Olasoju.
Adam, who spoke exclusively with ECHONEWS, expressed his belief that Olasoju’s emergence was divine hence, the need to congratulate and support him to be victorious at the poll.
Adam, who had previously served as the vice chairman of the local council and currently holds the title of Balogun of Isolo Kingdom, explained that he was not surprised by the political intrigues that characterised the primary election and its result, claiming that he was not desperate to get the party’s ticket in the first place.
He, however, reaffirmed his belief in the party’s supremacy and hinted that he might not contest for any elective position again following his futile chairmanship aspiration on four occasions but hopeful of getting political appointment.
He commended Olasoju for being kind with victory and extending hands of fellowship to his (Adam) campaign team, advising him to run all inclusive government.
Adam disclosed that he has directed his followers across the council area to intensify their individual and collective campaign activities for Olasoju.
He gave assurance that APC will win all positions with massive margins.
“It is to the glory of God that the primary election did not claim any life in Isolo in contrary to what we heard about some local governments. What has been written has been written (sic), the party has spoken and we have to show that we genuinely believe in the party’s supremacy. It is painful but you have to obey your party. You complain little and leave the rest because it may be your turn tomorrow. Those that are still very much bittered about the outcome of the election have enjoyed such before and this is another person’s turn which we must come together to work with.
“We should not see ourselves as enemies. We should all come together and settle things. I’m using this opportunity to appeal to other aspirants who lost the primary election to handle it as sportsmen would have done after a tough football match. They will shake hands and put the outcome of the match behind them. We should also do the same. We are all qualified for the position but God’s will has prevailed. We all tried our best but it appeared that God has ordained Adebayo Olasoju and I’ve sent congratulatory message to him and he has my support,” he said.
