By Motolani AbdulGafar
The incumbent Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsurudeen Bello (Obe), has disclosed that his intention for seeking re-election for his second term in office is to come back to complete numerous projects that his administration has embarked on during his first term in office.
While speaking to ECHONEWS, Obe disclosed that his administration has made great efforts to get attention and approval of the state government to open up some developmental projects within Ejigbo which are yet to be completed.
According to him, his re-election would help supervise the completion of those projects and as well demand more from the state government with the aim of converting Ejigbo into a developed community.
He said: “In our second term, we aim to advance all that we have done in accordance to our design for the whole of Ejigbo, the educational sector, public infrastructures, health sector and many more. For instance Ejigbo LCDA has a deficit infrastructure and our coming back is to actualise those approved projects Lagos State Government has granted us in order to make sure that they are all well executed.
“Under the educational sector, Ifoshi and Aigbaka wards are yet to have a public primary school but in our first tenure through persistent write up to the government, we thank God we’ve been granted a landed property for the school but yet to build the structure which is one of the things we are coming back to do.”
In addition, Obe disclosed that a strategic means of reducing high risk of road damage has been formulated which he intends to put in place if re-elected.
He stated: “We will ensure the creation of more CDAs within the structure so that there would be more commitment and accessibility at the grassroots level. Then,we will ensure the creation of a central terminal motor park in the transportation system at Iyana Ejigbo where heavy vehicles would be restricted to the major roads in Ejigbo, while tricycles, motorcycles and small busses would be instructed to use the roads within Ejigbo.
“This initiative would be extended to be in form of the BRT initiative to reduce accident, gridlock and road pressure on internally connected roads in the community which will be a synergy between the NURTW and the local government.
“Since inception, the ability to expand the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) network has been a challenge, we therefore intend to come back to consolidate on those already established revenue points such as the markets, motor parks, and many more to ensure a profitable leadership to the community.”
He further disclosed that he intends to rehabilitate the health sector by ensuring more free drugs in all primary health centers within Ejigbo in order to assist the poor and the less privileged in the community, adding that his administration would ensure 24 hours service in all the healthcare centers.
