Jubilation as govt eases lockdown on tennis

Lawn tennis lovers have continued to jubilate following the relaxation of the lockdown on the non contact sports.
The federal government had in March placed a restriction on sporting activities following the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.
However, with the intervention of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, the government last week eased the lockdown on tennis and other non contact sports.
To resume the sport activities at Adejumo Sport Center in Ajao estate, the management has provided soap and water to be used when entering the sport center while players are always mandated to use hand sanitizer before entering the tennis court.
Speaking with ECHONEWS, Babatunde Adebayo, a former captain of the club, said he was happy to return the tennis court after some months of absence due to the lockdown.
Another tennis player who simply identified himself as Buchi was delighted over the reopening of the sports as he commended the government for returning them back to the court.
He, however, disclosed that it will take time before the sport center comes back to it usual state.
“I am glad that activities have resumed slowly at the club. We had been unable to play tennis for the past four months due to the lockdown on sport activities. So, it’s a great feeling to be back and to make sure we regain the time wasted off the sports center,” he said.
