The company had donated 500 packs of 5kg rice, 100 cartons of juice and 100 packs of water to be distributed to the people in the community, stating that the donation was part of its contribution to allay the suffering of Isolo residents occasioned by the stay-at-home order.
While presenting the food items, the Legal/Compliance Manager, Barr Taiwo Osijo said the company was moved to join other corporate bodies in lifting the burden of COVID-19 off the shoulders of the federal and state governments.
Receiving the gifts, the chairman of Isolo LCDA, Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye commended the gesture, saying it was one of the right corporate social responsibilities needed at this period.
His words: “I say a big thank you to C-WAY. They have shown good Corporate Social Responsibility. I recall C-WAY undertook the construction of the road leading to its premises. I am sure they must have given a bigger donation to the Lagos State Government.
He appealed to other companies to follow the example set by C-WAY by showing their compassion to the people.
“I would like to seize this opportunity to appeal to other companies in our domain to emulate the gesture of C-WAY to come to the aid of the people of Isolo particularly at this trying times.”
He assured the company that the donation will be distributed to the needy to achieve the goal of the company.
According to him, “For us in Isolo this donation is timely. It is for the needy and as such it would be distributed to the needy to cushion the effect of the lock down,” he said.
The food items were subsequently distributed to youths in the seven wards of the local government.
