As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ejigbo Police Division, CSP Olabisi Okwuobi, has led other police officers to fill up the potholes on the NNPC-Canoe Road entrance at Biliaminu Akinsanya Street.
The NNPC-Canoe Road is known for traffic jam especially at the rush hours which make people spend hours on the road and cause headache for the traffic control personnel.
It was also noted that the Ejigbo DPO and her men have joined in controlling traffic at strategic places in Ejigbo such as Jakande Gate, NNPC Junction and Canoe Road entrance to ease traffic jam on the roads.
Concerned that the big potholes at the entrance caused slow bumper to bumper movement and huge traffic jam, the DPO took cement, sand and stones to the location and patched the potholes to the amazement of the people.
The action drew the attention of the boys at the junction, other residents and the members of PCRC who all came out to support the police on the work.
ECHONEWS learnt that the gesture was an attempt to solve the identified problem on the road, adding that the potholes were fixed in order to free the road for easy movement, to avoid accident, one way drive, traffic congestion, and to ease the traffic on the roads as the potholes slowed down vehicular movement.
The police sources said that it was also to make traffic control easier for the personnel and ease commuters access to Ejigbo and to link to Canoe, Ajao Estate and other destinations.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO), Elkana Bala, has commended the action of the Ejigbo DPO, saying it is a good way of giving back to the community as he identified the filling of potholes on the road as part of the CSR by the police.
