10th Assembly: Lawmaker, Yishawu, To Sponsor Bills on Research, Patients Rights, Others

Engr. Gbolahan Yishawu, a member of Lagos State House of Assembly has promised to sponsor three bills in the 10th Assembly that would enhance the quality of life of the people in different areas.

He disclosed this at the 10th Assembly Inaugural reception of Eti-Osa constituency 02 held at Y-Arena in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Yishawu said he would sponsor Lagos Patients Bill of Rights (SDG 3), Lagos State Urban and Regional Data Surveillance Bill (SDG 2) and Lagos Research Trust Fund Bill (SDG 4&6).

He promised to work hard with other legislators to push for the patients bill to protect patients from abuse, negligence, possible over billing and exposure to malpractices in the hospitals.

According to him, the bill would document the minimum condition of service expected of a medical facility in the treatment of patients in Lagos hospitals.

On the surveillance bill, Yishawu explained further that the objective is to establish the State Urban and Regional Data which will register buildings used for commercial purpose and advocate and advocate for Close Circuit Television for the purpose of surveillance, monitoring and facilitating the provisions for footages of potential harmful and dangerous occurence around the buildings and adjourning public areas with the State.

He said this would assist any relevant investigation by law enforcement agencies and for other matters connected therewith.

Speaking on on the research trust fund bill, the lawmaker said the objective is to allocate and administer funds to the eligible researchers who desire to carry out research work of public interest and development potentially beneficial to Lagos State.

“The research fund shall be refunded from direct allocation from the State, contributions from the relevant State ministries and agencies as well as donations and gifts. The Lotteries and Gaming Agency of the State shall be a preferred source of funding for consideration”, said Yishawu.

On his agenda for his constituents, He promised Health Insurance Scheme, People-Centred representation, Health support, acquisition skills amongst other things.

While appreciating his constituents for giving him their mandate to serve for another term, he promised not to relent in his oars in ensuring good programmes for youth, market men and women and the students.
