Assistance may be coming the way of some participants of the ongoing girl’s creativity project as the organiser sought partnership with World Connect to support some of the participants after the completion of the creative training.
- One of the facilitators of the project, Mrs. Modupe Darabidan-Adeoye, explained that the partnership with World Connect will support the participants with start-up capital and equipment.
She explained that, although the training is sponsored by the US Consulate and that there is provision of support for three best participants, seed funding was received from World Connect in 2019 to start the pilot phase of the project.
She said their partnership is more important n this time to help more participants establish their own businesses after training.
She disclosed that with the third batch undergoing the intensive creative training, the project has produced over 100 young girls between the ages of 16-25 with expertise in printing and branding.
The Programme Officer of World Connect, Vanessa Adebayo, after reviewing the partnership proposal, urged the organisers to be optimistic about the partnership.
Speaking about the performance of the participants, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mr. Olufemi Boboye Adeniji explained that students were enthusiastic about the project based on their level of commitment and engagement.
Aisha Yusuf and Esther Moukwe were some of the participants-turned-trainers at the hub who spoke with ECHONEWS correspondent who visited the hub.
Yusuf who has now secured admission into a university had participated in the first batch while she was seeking admission into a tertiary institution while Moukwe, who is undergoing her compulsary youth service at the centre, was one of the participants in 2020.
They both talked about their desire to make a future for themselves in the creative and design profession as they expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the facilitators and sponsors of the project.
