Woman remanded for public assault

Magistrate Kayode Layeni has sentenced an elderly woman, Sherifat Jimoh, for publicly making assault on her neighbour, Titilayo Akapo at their residence on Osunba Street, Igando.
The duo were said to have had constant quarrels over domestic issues which other neighbours had tried to settle but proved abortive.
On the fateful day, Akapo expressed her view on an issue surrounding their place of abode which met the dissatisfaction of Jimoh.
The dissatisfaction however turned into a squabble between them, which resulted to Jimoh battering the 35 year old victim with harmful objects, injuring her.
Akapo, who was already bleeding, was rushed to the hospital for treatment while the suspect arrested by the Police at Igando Division and charged before the Magistrates Court in Ejigbo where she was arraigned for assault.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector G Simon, did not oppose her being granted bail.
Magistrate Layeni granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she would perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 5th September, 2018
