UNDP graduates 633 vocational students

After completing their one week training, the 633 trainees who participated in the vocational training organised by the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP),  Oshodi were graduated and issued certificates.

At their graduation ceremony on Wednesday, the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede (Kendoo), who sponsored the training, promised to give startup capital to the trainees who excelled in the training.

He particularly had interest in one Miss Mojisola Kodaolu, who was among the beat performed trainees.

Kodaolu became prominent when the council chairman requested for her performance while she was receiving her certificate.

Kodaolu had trained in screen printing.

While presenting her result, the Programme coordinator, Afeez Adesanya revealed that she was among the top in her acquisition field.

Consequently, the council boss requested for her name and others who were topped in their various fields.

He said the names of the top best participants in the seven fields of training such as photograph, catering, screen printing, bag making, household chemical products, Adire making and cocktail drinks should be submitted to his office for them to receive start up support from him.

He also promised to partner with other training agencies apart from Yield Africa Foundation that facilitated the programme to make the vocational training a yearly project as part of effort to reduce unemployment in the society and to secure a better future for the community members.

He urged the beneficiaries of the training to be focused and determined towards greater achievements as he encouraged others to key into such training, to broaden their knowledge.

The Executive Director of Yield Africa Foundation, Ambassador Martins Olatunde, confidently stated that 85 percent of the 633 participants could produce what they learned in their various fields without being assisted.

Kodaolu appreciated the council chairman for the recognition and support promise, while other participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to them to acquire the knowledge.
