The council leader of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Olanrewaju Akinbowale (Larry), has revealed how the council ran hitch-free governance under the Hon. Monsuru Bello Obe led administration for almost four years.

According to him, the peaceful environment created by both the executive and legislative arms of the government led to the greater achievements recorded by the council.

He said right from the inception of the administration, both arms of government had decided to work toward the development of the council hence, they both created harmonious relationship and tried to maintain it hitherto.

In terms of legislation, Akinbowale said the council is among the best in Lagos State, they were able to make bylaws that created a peaceful environment and made developmental projects easy to be executed.

He said: “In this LCDA, there has been a harmonious working-relationship between both arms and the reason is because we have the same vision and focus which brought us on the same page as we both synergised to achieve a common goal which is for the development of the community.

“Whatever project or programme the executive arm wants to implement, the legislative arm will key into it and it has brought about enormous developmental projects in Ejigbo.”

He said the best achievement the legislative arm recorded in the current administration is the fact that it did not have any misunderstanding with the executive arm.

Emphasising on the essence of cooperation and harmonious relationship among government officials, the council leader said the legislature under him was able to pass two bills into bye-laws despite the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This House has been able to pass over 20 resolutions, passed two bills into law and we still have about seven proposed bills for bylaw. We follow the due process in law making which is sponsoring bills on the floor of the House.

“The bills can emanate from three areas which are the legislative and executive arms and or from the general public although most of them are sponsored by the councillors representing various wards within Ejigbo,” he said.

He, however, regretted that the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and EndSARS protest delayed the progress of law-making, saying more beneficial bills would have been passed into bylaw.
