SHAKE-UP IN LAGOS COUNCILS

No fewer than 50 senior council officials have been redeployed across the 57 Local Government Areas (LGs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). Out of these, 18 officials got new appointments in their various new places of work.
The redeployment, ECHONEWS gathered, was made to reposition local council administration in Lagos State.
This is not the first time the state government would do this, the deployment of council officials happens periodically. In Lagos State, council officials spend at least two years in a council before being moved to another local council, while some officials are moved from one post to another upon redeployment.
In a memo dated 7th June 2023 and obtained by ECHONEWS, the state government ordered that 28 Heads of Administration including the Director, Budget and Planning; Director, Community Development; Director, Engineer; Director, Admin & HR; all on Grade Level 17, and a Grade Level 16 Deputy Director, Education be moved from the local council to another.
Another 22 Council Treasurers on Grade Levels 15, 16, and 17 such as Director, Finance & Account; Deputy Director, Finance and Account, as well as Assistant Director, Finance & Account we’re also asked to leave their current local councils for other places.
Mrs. Balogun Lateefat Toyin, a Grade Level 17 Director of Budget and Planning in Oshodi-Isolo LG has been moved to Eti-Osa LCDA, Odi-Olowo Director of Community Development, Mr. Omotayo Shakiru Adetola was redeployed to Egbe-Idimu LCDA to hold the same post in his new local council, while the Director, Engineer in Lekki LCDA, Mr. Animashaun Akeem Adebayo, was moved to Ajeromi-Ifelodun LCDA.
The new Director, Engineer at Ojodu LCDA, Mr. Akintoye Olubunmi Okufemi, was brought from Ibeju-Lekki LG; the new Lekki LCDA Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Shobule Oladipupo Olanrewaju was redeployed from Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA.
In the same vein, Ifako-Ijaye LG got a new Director of Community Development, Adesanya Adegbenro Akeem, from Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA, while the current Director of Administration and Human Resources in Oshodi-Isolo LG, Mrs. Ogunyemi Iyabode was formerly working in Ejigbo LCDA in the same capacity.
Ogunyemi was replaced in Ejigbo by Mr. Ajagunna Olumide Okusegun, who was also formerly working with Lagos Mainland LG.
The Director of Administration and Human Resources in Epe LG, Mr. Bakare Olakunle Olanrewaju has been moved to Amuwo-Odofin LG.
The Director of Budget and Planning in Mosan Okunola LCDA, Mr. Olaniyan Muniru Ayodeji, has been redeployed to Eti-Osa East LCDA, while the Deputy Director, Admin & HR, Mr. Ogidan Adepeju Adebayo was moved from Eti-Osa East LCDA to Apapa Iganmu LCDA.
The Director of Administration and Human Resources of Eti-Osa LG, Mr. Akintola Wasiu Adebowale, has been redeployed to continue his work at Lagos Mainland LG, while Lagos Island East LCDA got a new Director, Admin & HR, in the person of Mr. Azeez Muheez Ademola from Ijede LCDA.
The former Director, Admin & HR in Imota LCDA, Mr. Otinwa Oladipupo Abiodun was moved to Ibeju-Lekki, and the Director of Community Development in Oto-Awori, Mrs. Otenaike Afolake Afusat has also been redeployed to Odi-Olowo LCDA.
Eleven officials including Tijani Waidi, Ramon Rafiu, Odubeko Juliana, Adeniyi Owolabi, Awobajo Sunday, Giwa Mosurat, Akintola Adebimpe, Gbajabiamila Mojisola, Abdul-Kareem Yesirat, Abass-Olisa Elizabeth, and Hamzat Folayemi got a new appointment in their new local councils.
Under the second category, tagged Council Treasurers, Mrs. Saula Funsho Ganiat, the Director of Finance and Account in Ojo LG has been moved to Lagos Mainland, while Ojo got a new Assistant Director of Finance and Account, Mr. Okeowo Isiaka from Epe LG.
In the same vein, the new Deputy Director of Finance and Account in Mushin LG, Mrs. Badmus Laide Monsurat was redeployed from Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA. Badmus replaced Mrs. Suarea Debora, who was moved to Amuwo-Odofin.
The Isolo Deputy Director of Finance and Account, Mrs. Ajayi Shakirat Arike, who was taken to Igbogbo Baiyeku, was replaced in Isolo LCDA with Mrs. Omotara Sherifat who had been working with Ajeromi Ifelodun in the same capacity before her redeployment.
Hunvenu Adebiyi Olufunke of Lekki LCDA was redeployed to Alimosho as its new Deputy Director of Finance and Account, while that of Badagry West, Mr. Asuni Kamorudeen was moved to Otto-Awori LCDA.
Ojo LG, Agege LG, Yaba LCDA, Lekki LCDA, and Oshodi-Isolo got new Assistant Directors of Finance and Account from Epe LG, Yaba LCDA, Oriade LCDA, Olorunda LCDA, and Odi-Olowo LCDA respectively.
The former officials who were redeployed to those new local councils are Okeowo Isiaka, Jimoh Balogun, Gbesan Olusola, Albert Oluwarotimi, and Badmus Shuaib.
Others are Rufai Mujitaba, Adebiyi Akeem, and Olugnuyi Babatunde, who were moved as Assistant Directors of Finance and Account from Lagos Mainland to Odi-Olowo, Oshodi-Isolo to Ajeromi Ifelodun, and Alimosho to Oriade LCDA respectively.
Lawal Adeshina, Alabi Wasiu, Sodiq-Mabeko Rasak, Abdul-Salam Fawziyat, Onisarutu Mulikat, Yaya Adekunle, and Afolayan Anthony got new appointments in their various new local councils.
Mrs. Bibilomo Olushekun, the Permanent Secretary, OLGE&T, who signed the memo said the redeployment takes immediate effect as she directed the affected officials to do proper handing over.
The memo read: “It is hereby notified for general information that Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has approved the appointment and deployment of the Heads of Administration and Council Treasurers in the Unified Local Government Service.
“Deployment posts and effective date of the appointment are as presented here-under.
“It is expected that the confidence reposed in the new appointees by this appointment will reflect in their performance and add value to the Unified Local Government Administration.
“Please note that the deployment/re-deployment is with immediate effect.
“Accordingly, affected officers are to ensure proper hand-over.
“While wishing the Heads of Administration/Council Treasurers a most rewarding and impactful tenure, please give this circular the wide publicity it deserves.”
