Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has preached the model of unity among the National Youth Service Corpers serving in Lagos at the closing ceremony of the Batch B Stream 11 orientation camp.
Sanwo-Olu, urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to use their service year to promote unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation exercise at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp in Iyana Ipaja, the governor emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and cooperation among the corps members in their host communities.
Representing the governor, the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, highlighted the primary objective of the NYSC to foster unity through its vibrant youth.
He urged the corps members to strive for harmonious relationships and uphold this goal in their assigned communities.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, a special guest at the ceremony, also advised the corps members to embrace the values of the NYSC, which are centered around fostering unity and diversity.
He encouraged them to be accommodating, law-abiding, and to live in harmony with their host communities.
The State Coordinator of NYSC Lagos, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, revealed that the corps members had undergone a comprehensive orientation program, including citizenship and leadership training, paramilitary drills, martial arts, motivational lectures, social activities, and skill acquisition programs.
She urged the 3104 corps members to accept their postings with a positive attitude and contribute their best to their places of primary assignment.
