Sanwo-Olu Commissions New Commercial court In Lagos Island

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned a newly constructed commercial court in Lagos Island area.

During the commissioning of the 6-floor facility in Tapa area of the community on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu said that the court will serve as an institution for enforcing fiscal and regulatory responsibilities owned to the state by its citizens.

The Governor disclosed that the building which consists of 10 fully furnished courtrooms with a Library on each floor, Conference rooms and other support facilities will also serve as the Lagos State Revenue Court to entertain matters relating to the recovery of taxes and prosecution of tax defaulters, entertain matters of recovery of levies, Land Use Charges, rates, fines, and other government revenues.

Sanwo-Olu issued a on his X handle which reads: “Today, I officially commissioned the newly constructed Lagos State Commercial Court at Tapa, Lagos Island.

“This building embodies our commitment to fostering a judicial environment that delivers timely, efficient, and specialized adjudication of commercial disputes.

“The commercial court has ten fully furnished courtrooms, complemented by libraries on each floor and well-equipped conference rooms. These facilities will not only enhance the judicial experience but will also serve as a refuge for those seeking justice in their commercial dealings.

“Our goal is to create a legal framework that supports economic growth, encourages investment, promotes entrepreneurship, and ultimately simplifies the process of doing business in Lagos State.

“I remain committed to driving forward initiatives that not only stimulate economic development but also ensure that justice prevails in all corners of Lagos State.”
