Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have directed traders clamouring for confirmation of a market unit in Agboyi-Ketu to register under the Local Council Development Area before commencing market activities.

The Orilowo Perishable Goods Marketers, craving for the market square at the Orilowo area, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, were ordered to comply with the directive following their petition and peaceful protest over their inability to be recognised in the LCDA.

Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government Administration, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon, who read the report on the floor of the House, explained the stance between both parties that led to the recommendations.

Before the resolution of the House, the committee recommended that Orilowo Perishable Foods Market must not operate until the traders are registered for such purpose by Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.

The committee also told both parties that necessary documentation should be tendered for official registration while the LCDA should register the market once all the requirements are met.

Presiding in the plenary, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mojisola Meranda, resolved to adopt the recommendations of the Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development as the resolution of the House.
