The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has reaffirmed its support for the Federal Government’s ongoing reform agenda following a two-day meeting held in Lagos from December 5 to 6, 2025.

The gathering, hosted by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and chaired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, brought together governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to review the nation’s political and economic climate.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the Lagos State chapter of the APC commended the governors for what it described as a unified and courageous stance at a time of “national reform, sacrifice, and renewal.” The party praised the Forum for backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the governors anchored their deliberations on “facts, data, and long-term national interest.”

According to the Lagos APC, the PGF highlighted progress in areas such as food security, power and transportation reforms, enterprise development, social investment programs, and national security efforts. The party said the alignment between state governments and the Federal Government was crucial for Nigeria’s economic recovery.

The Forum also emphasized citizens’ welfare, after conducting a broad review of social and economic conditions across the country. The governors pledged to continue prioritizing the needs of workers, youth, women, entrepreneurs, and vulnerable groups.

Acknowledging the economic strain many Nigerians currently face, the PGF reportedly committed to expanding targeted interventions, including increased food production support, SME assistance, youth employment initiatives, and strengthened social protection. They also promised closer collaboration with Federal institutions, the National Economic Council, and Local Governments.

The Lagos APC described the meeting as a defining moment for progressive politics in Nigeria, expressing confidence that it would be remembered as a demonstration of responsible leadership during a challenging period.

The statement, signed by Lagos APC Spokesman, Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, urged Nigerians to remain confident in the direction of the ongoing reforms, noting that the governors had sent “a loud and reassuring message” that the country’s leadership remained united and focused.
