Police Arraign Men For Stealing Spaghetti

The Police have arrested two suspects for allegely stealing spaghetti packs worth N54 million.

The alleged offenders, Abdulahi Yahaya and Abduljabar Jubreel, who were said to be haulage drivers, were arraigned at the Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, Lagos.

Yahaya, 48 and Jubril, 39, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing according to the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem.

The prosecutor claimed that on the 18th of February 2024, the duo alongside others not yet arrested were entrusted to convey a haulage of 4,725 packets of spaghetti belonging to a company identified as IOS Global Logistics Limited in Shagamu Road to a destination but allegely made diversion to another route and went away with the items, thus, not dispatching at the designation they where told.

Iberedem said the offence contravened Sections 287(9) (b) (c) and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The prosecutor stated at the court that Section 287(9) prescribes seven years imprisonment on any individual found guilty.

Magistate Ejiro Kubeinje granted the defendants bail in the sum of N3 Million each with two sureties in like sum.

She stated that the sureties must be gainfully employed with proof of tax payments and an affidavit of verification.

Kubeinje adjourned the matter until June 26, for mention.
