Police Apprehend Two Fraudsters In Lagos

Two men accused of fraudulently defrauding members of the public have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command.

The suspects, Seyi Demola, 26, and Wale Lawson, 27, were arrested on Saturday as mentioned by the police spokesperson in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.

Hundeyin said that the suspects were arrested by officers from Isokoko Division of the command following a distress call after the gang was held by a mob and a victim of their operation.

Speaking preferably on anonymity, the victim said that one of the suspects, who claimed to be a prophet, approached her for prayers.

“He told me and his accomplice, who pretended to be seeking help from him, to buy sachet water and use it to pray for each other,” she narrated her ordeal.

“He instructed the man to pray with the water for me and give me his bag to hold.

“Then he said it was my turn to pray for the man, so I should give him my bag, which I complied.

“During the prayer, he asked me to call out my phone’s password claiming the password will be used to receive favour.

”He told me not to look back or else I will become Lot’s wife in the Bible.

“They were about to mount a motorcycle to run away when people intercepted them and that was when I realized that the they both know each other”.

The police said the suspects were caught with two female handbags, cash and an iPhone.

According to Hundeyin, preliminary investigation reveals that many people have fallen victim to their scheme.

The spokesperson said that investigation in the case was ongoing.
