The Tutor General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) Education District VI, Oshodi, Mrs Okelola Oyebisi has urged the Sanwo -Olu administration to continue sponsoring vocational training in secondary schools.
She appealed to the two-week vocational training powered by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu ended last week.
The students were trained in tie and dye making, bead making, liquid soap, Dettol making, make-up/gele tying, cake, photography and others.
She commended the governor for making sure the students were engaged in skills acquisition in addition to their academic pursuits.
Oyebisi stated that the state government provided all the needed materials to train the students.
She, therefore, charged the trained students to make use of the opportunity with the start-up kits given to them.
She urged them to continue practising on their own at home to perfect their skills while charging the parents to take over the support from the government for further development of their skills.
With confidence, the TG/PS stated that the trained students can display the skills acquired without the help of any teacher or instructor.
Four centres were used for the training – Agidingbi Senior Grammar School for Ikeja zone, Ikeja Grammar School for Oshodi zone, AUD Comprehensive College for Isolo zone, and Birch Freeman High School for Mushin zone.
After the presentation of their practical works, the students were awarded certificates.
