One of the aspirants in the race for the chairmanship position of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Saheed Animashaun, said he has withdrawn from the race to diligently carry out the party’s duties.
In an exclusive chat with ECHONEWS, Animashaun, who is the Deputy Chairman of the party at the local government, stated that the supremacy of the party accounted for his withdrawal from pursuing the chairmanship position.
He said the decision to withdraw was taken after the party leadership met with him and asked him to take full charge of the chairmanship affairs of the party in an acting capacity.
He said: “My decision to withdraw from the race was due to a high level of consideration for the great and development of our great party after our party leaderships met with me and told me to take full charge of the party at the local government level, I took it in good faith and consideration for the supremacy of the party. To me, the party’s interest comes above other interests and that is why I accepted to withdraw from the race.
“This is to allow us to coordinate the party and ensure there is no vacuum in the party leadership for us to effectively plan towards the forthcoming elections and ensure we succeed at the polls. This decision is for the betterment of our party to take it to greater heights.”
Animashaun reminded his teeming supporters of his loyalty and commitment to the party hierarchy when he said: “Though, during the course of my campaign for the position of the local council chairman, I made a restraint statement loud and clear that if I should be called back to handle the LGA party duty, that I would oblige to the call and that is just what I have done by withdrawing from the contest.”
Animashaun, who joined the chairmanship race early in the year, has through various means canvassed seriously for support to occupy the number one position in Oshodi-Isolo local government.
He organised Easter food packages for the residents and has also started giving out free Joint Admissions and Matriculation’s (JAMB), Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms to the youths among other various services to the people of the council.
