Opay Appoints Gotring As Chief Executive, Akanmu, Quits

Opay, the digital money service limited has appointed Dada Gotring as its new Managing Director, following the exit of its President/Co-Chief Executive Officer, Olu Akanmu.

A statement on the official Twitter handle of the company has revealed that Akanmu would be leaving next month.

The management has subsequently appointed Dada Gotring as the incoming Managing Director.

Akanmu’s exit is not linked to any scandal but a move to pursue bigger assignment, the statement noted as it described him as an unrelenting enthusiast for greater influence and deeper financial inclusion in Nigeria.

The statement reads, “As the records and the indelible mark Akanmu leaves irrefutably show. He has been a critical part of our company’s success and goodwill while he was with us. Olu has decided to pursue other goals all to the end that every Nigerian is able to access financial inclusion and representation. While we will miss him, we wish him well in his future endeavours”, the statement reads

On the appointment of Gotring as the new Managing Director, the statement explained that he is subject to regulatory approval, adding that he (Gotring) is a veteran in the financial services industry and will continue to steer the OPay ship in the direction of even greater strides.
