As the tenure of the incumbent elected council officials across the state finally comes to an end, the outgoing Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye has boasted about the confidence he has in his vice-chairman Hon. Adebayo Olasoju in developing the council area further.

Olasoju is the chairmanship candidate of the party; The All Progressive Congress (APC), for the council election which is coming up tomorrow, Saturday, July 24, 2021. His running mate is Hon. Shakir Sadiq Adeola (Imole).

Olaleye’s statement was contained in a Facebook post by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Muyiwa Asalejo where he appreciated residents of the council area especially his ardent supporters for their unyielding support throughout his two-term administration as the council chairman.

Olaleye was first elected as the chairman of the council in 2011 as the successor of the first chairman of the council area Mrs. Modupeola Fafowora Oseghale.

Following the expiration of his 3-year tenure in 2014, the council witnessed two interim administrators and they are Hon. Segun Jubril and Hon. Abimbola Oshikoya who served as the Executive Secretary and Sole Administrator, respectively for 18 months each.

Following Olaleye’s emergence as flagbearer of the party in 2017, he fended off competition from the candidate of the PDP’s to return to the council as the chairman for the second term.

Constitutionally, Olaleye’s tenure as the chairman comes to an end on July, 25, as that was the day he was sworn in together with his counterparts from across the state in 2017 by the immediate past governor of the state, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.

He appreciated the support he has enjoyed from the residents and sought forgiveness from those he might have offended through his actions and inactions during his term as the council helmsman.

He noted that he’s only stepping aside, for now, to come back soon and assured that Olasoju will perform better given his wealth of experience in local government administration.

The statement reads: “Thank you Isolo, there is a time to come ( Bismillahi) there is time to go (Aliamdulilahi). I thank Allah for sparing my life and the modest achievements. Apologies to those individuals who have been affected by my actions or inactions. Thank you to those who gave me unflinching support all through. Stepping aside now to come back soon. My successor shall do better because he has been part of the team and he already has the good platform to kick and start… Thank you thank you thank you.”
